  1. Upper East Side is a Type 1 PostScript font (works with ATM version 1.2 or
  2. higher) in an art deco style that works well in both text and display
  3. applications. It contains a full set of characters, including diacritics,
  4. and has 477 kerning pairs. Zowie!
  5.  
  6. Upper East Side resembles a well-known display font called Parisian, which
  7. looks like the work of the designer of the typeface Broadway on a GOOD day.
  8. It is called UpperEastSide to complement my shareware font UpperWestSide, and
  9. because I've seen this font all over the East Side, from Book Store signs to
  10. menus. Here's a little peek:

  16. If you also have my font UpperWestSide, FIRST, PAY FOR IT! Second, if you have
  17. both fonts installed with Adobe Type Reunion Active, you will now have an
  18. "Upper" item on your menu with a submenu that contains "EastSide" and
  19. "WestSide."

  21. UpperEastSide is DonateWare. If you keep it, you are requested (ooh, I HATE
  22. the passive voice!) to make a tax-deductible contribution to Columbia
  23. University of at least $9.99, as follows: Make the check payable to Columbia
  24. University and mail it to Cynthia Lemiesz, 703 Dodge Hall, Columbia University,
  25. New York, NY 10027. With your check enclose a postcard of any town that isn't
  26. your hometown or an old cash register receipt, and write on it: "Dear Cynthia:
  27. Here's $9.99. We've seen better weather here, but I can't complain. The guy
  28. in the paint store says I have to go now."
